Fighting Cancer

with The Right Mind

Acknowledging

Your Feeling

Accept your emotions:

It's natural to experience a wide range of emotions upon a cancer diagnosis, including shock, fear, anger, denial, and sadness. Acknowledging these feelings as a natural response to your situation is crucial.

Allow yourself to grieve:

Recognize that grieving is not limited to the loss of a loved one but can also apply to the loss of your sense of normalcy, health, and plans for the future.

Building Your Support System

Communicate with loved ones:

Share your thoughts, fears, and feelings with friends and family. Their support can be invaluable.

Connect with other cancer patients:

Speaking with others who are going through similar experiences can provide comfort, insights, and practical advice. I once had my mom’s friend who’s a breast cancer survivor visited me, and her support was more meaningful for me.

Practicing Self-care and Mindfulness

Engage in activities you enjoy:

Find solace in hobbies, reading, or other leisure activities to maintain a sense of normalcy and joy. If you are always interested to read a book but never had the chance to do it because of your packed schedule, this is the time!

Mindfulness and relaxation techniques:

If you are able, practices like meditation, deep breathing exercises, and yoga can help manage stress, anxiety, and depression. You can check videos on Youtube on how to do these activities, but know your own limit.
